Conference venue – Hotel Hunguest Forrás Szeged **** Superior

BiPoCo 2016 will take place in the Hotel Hunguest Forrás Szeged **** Superior located in Szeged, the capital of „Alföld”, the Great Hungarian Plain, at the confluence of the Tisza and Maros rivers. Szeged is the 3rd largest Hungarian city, also called the City of Sunshine because it has the highest number of sunny days throughout the year in Hungary. Szeged is famous for two traditional Hungarian meals: Fisherman's soup ("Halászlé" in Hungarian) and Pick salami which you should not miss to try during your stay in Hungary.

Travel

Budapest can be easily reached by air, railway or road. The organizers will arrange bus transfer from Budapest to Szeged on August 28 and also from Szeged to Budapest after the conference on September 1. Bus transfer from Budapest (Heroes’ Square) to Szeged will run on August 28 at 15.00 and 17.00 (Budapest, UTC +01.00). Each ride costs €25. Fees will be paid on site. Please, note that the number and size of the buses will be arranged according to the number of registered participants. Requests can be made in the “Transfer” section of the conference registration system. If you would like to have resort to this service, please modify your registration until August 10 at latest. 

Buses start from the Heroes’ Square of Budapest. The meeting point is behind the Kunsthalle Budapest (Műcsarnok) at the statue “Timewheel”. For details please check the below map:

The easiest way to get to the meeting point from the airport is by taxi. The usual rate is ~21 EUR. All taxies accept Euro and credit cards. The Heroes' Square can also be reached by public transportation, by taking the metro M1 to the stop “Hősök tere”.

Those who would like to make their own travel arrangements can reach the city either by car or train. Szeged can be reached by car on the highway M5 in about ~1.5 hours. Trains depart from Budapest-Nyugati and from Liszt Ferenc Airport Terminal 1 (which can be reached from the international terminal, Terminal 2 by bus No. 200E or taxi) several times a day and the journey takes approximately 2.5 hours.
